Arlington VA (June 9, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.11 Engineering Committee on Optical Systems has issued a call for interest for document TSB-5074, initially titled “Port Mapping Fundamentals for Structured Fiber Cross – Connect Architectures”.
TR-42.11 is creating this Technical Systems Bulletin (TSB) to provide guidance on port mapping for structured fiber cross-connect architectures used in telecommunications and data center environments. It describes a method for aligning active equipment port arrangements with passive optical fiber connectivity through use of modular connectivity components, housings, and slot-based assignments.
This bulletin is intended to support planning, documentation, and administration of structured fiber infrastructure where repeatable port organization and scalable cross-connect design are desired.
Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Telecom
TIA is actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
