TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project For Adoption of IEC 61745:2017 – End-face Image Analysis Procedure for the Calibration of Optical Fiber Geometry Test Sets

Arlington, VA (March 12, 2024) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.13 Engineering Committee on Passive Optical Device and Fiber Optic Metrology has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-225-A initially titled “Adoption of IEC 61745:2017 – End-face Image Analysis Procedure for the Calibration of Optical Fiber Geometry Test Sets”. TR-42.13 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: Revise ANSI/TIA-455-225 and adopt IEC 61745:2017 – End-face Image Analysis Procedure for the Calibration of Optical Fiber Geometry Test Sets.

Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: End-users, installers, designers of optical fiber cabling systems, optical fiber test equipment manufacturers, optical fiber manufacturers, IEC TC86.

TIA is seeking broad input as per the public review announcement in ANSI’s Standards Action for directly and materially affected parties. In addition, we are actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Cheryl Thibideau at standards-process@tiaonline.org.
