Arlington VA. (Oct. 29, 2020) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.3 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Administration, Pathways, Spaces, Bonding and Grounding (569) has issued a call for interest for document ANSI/TIA-5048-1 initially titled “Automated infrastructure management (AIM) systems – Requirements, data exchange and applications, Addendum 1: Adoption of ISO/IEC 18598 AMD1 ED1″. TR-42.3 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: ” This International Standard specifies the requirements and recommendations for the attributes of automated infrastructure management (AIM) systems.  It explains how AIM systems can contribute to operational efficiency and deliver benefits.  It also specifies a framework of requirements and recommendations for data exchange with other systems.”

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Cabling system designers, consultants, manufacturers, cabling systems owners, facilities management organizations, AIM, DCIM, and facility management software programmers.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Cheryl Thibideau at standards-process@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
