TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Fibre-Optic Communication Subsystem Test Procedures – Part 4-5: Installed Cabling Plant – Attenuation Measurement of MPO Terminated Fibre Optic Cabling Plant using Test Equipment with MPO Interfaces

Arlington VA. (January 04, 2021) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.11 Engineering Committee on Optical Fiber Systems (568) has issued a call for interest for document ANSI/TIA-526-28 initially titled ” Fibre-Optic Communication Subsystem Test Procedures – Part 4-5: Installed Cabling Plant – Attenuation Measurement of MPO Terminated Fibre Optic Cabling Plant using Test Equipment with MPO Interfaces “. TR-42.11 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: ” Adopt IEC 61280-4-5: 2020 as a new ANSI/TIA 526 document.”

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: TR-42.1, TR-42.11, TR-42.13, IEC 86B, IEC 86C, ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC25/WG3, end-users, installers, designers of optical fiber cabling systems.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Cheryl Thibideau at standards-process@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
