Arlington VA (August 4, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-20-C, initially titled “FOTP-20 IEC 60793-1-46: Optical Fibers- Part 1-46: Measurement Methods and Test Procedures- Monitoring of Changes in Optical Transmittance”.
TR-42.12 is creating this project to update FOTP-20 with IEC 60793-1-46: Optical Fibers- Part 1-46: Measurement Methods and Test Procedures- Monitoring of Changes in Optical Transmittance. FOTP-20 was reaffirmed in 2013. Adopt latest IEC revision, 2024.
Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Telecom, optical fiber manufacturers, optical cable manufactures, developers, users.
TIA is seeking broad input as per the public review announcement in ANSI’s Standards Action for directly and materially affected parties. In addition, we are actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
