TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Low or High Temperature Bend Test for Fiber Optic Cable

Arlington VA. (June 29, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-37-B initially titled ” Low or High Temperature Bend Test for Fiber Optic Cable “. TR-42.12 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: Update the test standard, i.e. updating of obsolete references, improvement of some descriptions, restructuring of some (sub)clauses, updating of the comparison with the IEC bend test method, etc.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: IEC SC86A, ICEA, end-users, assemblers, test laboratories, and manufacturers of optical fiber cables.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Cheryl Thibideau at standards-process@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Visit tiaonline.org.
